30 Classes in 30 Days Challenge #Learn4Life
June is right around the corner, and this year all of us at Allclasses are proclaiming it to be Life-Long Learners Month. What’s more, I’m about to launch my very own 30 in 30 challenge. What’s that you might ask? Starting June 1st, I am going to be embarking on a month long journey to take 30 classes in 30 days, and I want you all to join me! I will post my schedule for each week in a blog post on the preceding Friday along with my commentary, pictures, and videos from along the way.
Am I insane? No. Well, maybe….
Why am I doing this?
If May is the Month when education is celebrated, June could appropriately be titled “the month when learning dies.” Graduating seniors (and pretty much all students) put their collective brains on the shelf to take a break from learning, some never to return. In fact we know that 42% of the 1.6 Million students graduating college this year, will never read a book again! Those entering the workforce will be greeted with the harsh reality that employee training programs are too often an afterthought, leaving professional development up to individuals on their own. Even people in the middle of careers have stopped learning, and this is no longer acceptable with how fast the world is changing around us.
Your brain is just like a muscle, and unless you exercise it with new challenges, it atrophies.
So this June we are changing this cycle, and getting everyone out there willing to join the cause to commit to be a part of life-long learners month. And I am here to tell you there are millions of available and affordable options out there for both professional and personal growth. Many require very little time or financial commitment, yet they can add more tools to your belt and be fulfilling at the same time.
You are also not one dimensional. Achieving balance is a never ending struggle, and you will never reach your full potential in one arena by neglecting everything around it. To prove this, I have signed up for an assortment of classes spanning professional, fitness, lifestyle, and other skills development. Each of these classes will teach me something that will help:
- build and grow Allclasses as a business, such as marketing, design, project management, and web development
- improve my well being by learning better sleep management and core strength conditioning
- expand my horizons by trying things I have always wanted to do, like glass blowing and home brewing
- get better at and more educated about many things I already do in my personal life, like grilling and breakdancing (didn’t see that one coming, did you?)
On a personal level, maybe if I learn enough I can become the new most interesting man in the world. And yes, I am taking a Photoshop class to improve my skills there as well (note below picture).
So join me in my learning journey, and tell the world how you are improving yourself, becoming more interesting, and living life more fulfilled using the hashtag #Learn4Life. Throughout the month, we will pick some people who are engaging with us on social media to receive some Allclasses schwag!
